W.net launches in UK to drive parity for women in payment
Monday 20 October 2014

The Women’s Network in Electronic Transactions (W.net) today announces its inaugural UK meeting in London on Thursday 23rd October at 3pm. W.net is a not for profit organisation that, for the last decade, has been inspiring and empowering more than a 1,000 women annually in the US to greater success.

In the US, the organisation provides world-class national and regional programming, fosters networking and promotes mentoring to help members achieve greater personal success, influence and professional parity.

The goal of the community is to see an equal representation of women in the boardroom, conference room and offices throughout the payments industry. This is to be achieved by encouraging women to continue to develop strong leadership techniques by maximizing each woman’s individual potential and position themselves for greater personal success.

Lisa Shipley, the 2014 W.net President and EVP & Managing Director of Payment Network Solutions at Transaction Network Services, will be a keynote speaker at the event. Shipley says of the UK launch ‘It’s exciting and rewarding to see more women at W.net events supporting one another to succeed, and break through at the most senior levels. As payments is a global industry, we’re building an international community and consequently there are opportunities for women to get actively involved or just attend to share advice and network.’

Lisa is set to talk about her incredible experiences of how she fought to secure equal pay in the payments industry, her recent book launch and the vision for W.net in Europe. Neira Jones, NED, Speaker, Chairman and Advisor in Payments and Security will share how she built her career to C-level and how she created a strong profile by using social media networks.

Kimberley Waldron and Angela Yore, the co-founders of SkyParlour and payments industry experts are leading the organisation of W.net in Europe and welcome all women that are interested to support the first interest meeting.
