New Report Highlights The True Cost Of Cybercrime

A recent article published in SC Magazine has revealed some frightening Cybercrime statistics. Statistics from the article based on a survey of 20000 people reveal that:

  • Cybercrime has affected 431 million adults worldwide in the past year at a cost of $388 billion in monetary and time costs
  • 14 adults become the victims of cybercrime every second. This means that there are over 1 million victims each day
  • 69% of adults have experienced cybercrime during their lifetime
  • The most common form of cybercrime is by malware and viruses. This is followed by online scams and phishing
  • During the past 12 months, three times as many individuals have been the victim of online crime versus offline.
